Minister Karen Brown's Testimony
Thank you Shirley Hawkins for such a timely word, as only you could share it. No one but God would give you the vision to provide a male perspective on the matter from both a seasoned saint and a young adult male. Thank you for such common sense, practical examples, with visuals—and let us not forget that full length mirror! May we always check the front and back before leaving our homes. Thank you also for the foresight to include a chapter with examples of the proper foundations. The foundation must be strong before we can build anything, including proper attire. Thank you for your nurturing, kind spirit and sharing a serious matter with such conviction and light humor. What a Titus 2 woman and an example of the woman we all want to be when we grow up!
We thank God that you were obedient and took the time to pen one more tool to add to our arsenal. We shall beat the devil at his game; he won’t use us to make our brothers fall. Yes, we are pursuing, advancing and taking territories and this is one that all ladies can assist in, no matter the age. We thank you for modeling the beauty of modesty daily—you, your daughter and granddaughter. After all, true beauty is on the inside and we know from our Bishop “It is an inside job.” What is on the inside will definitely show on the outside and we thank you for reminding us of that in your book. You definitely walk what you talk and we thank God for it and especially for you. Continue to bless God’s people with your unique style and message, and we know for you, the best is yet to come.
Come on ladies, let’s take heed to instruction – let’s send the right message. We don’t want to see our brother fall, let alone be directly linked to their fall. Let’s walk in excellence and allow God to order our steps even in our dress. And remember when in doubt, refer to Sister Shirley Hawkins book, “MIRROR ON THE WALL: Would My Dress Cause My Brother to Fall?”
