A Ministry for Modest Dress

When God has an assignment for you, it does not matter how old or how young you are. At the age of 68, God spoke to Shirley to write a book. It is entitled; "Mirror On The Wall: Would My Dress Cause My Brother To Fall?" When you say “YES” to a God assignment, He provides the resources to get it done. Under the direction of the Holy Spirit, this book was written in six weeks.
Shirley has always had a spark for fashion; however, God has developed her passion into a call for modest dress. Her mentoring spirit has provoked her to mentor many young people and the young at heart. Because of her capacity to mentor, her vision for a modeling/production company for teens was born in 2002.
God has used Shirley to encapsulate a wealth of wisdom and life experiences. She is greatly anointed to assist and guide women in the Body of Christ on the proper outer attire and to also address the importance of the right foundation under these beautiful outer garments. Her goal is to help women in presenting themselves in a way that is pleasing to God, as we worship in the house of God and outside the doors of the church. She teaches ladies that they can be fashionable and modest at the same time. She encourages you to create your own style. Being a lady is an inside job.
Shirley has published her second book entitled; "If These Walls Could Talk." This book reveals the complete story of what took place within the Colonial Revival brick mansion located at 508 St. James Street, Richmond, Virginia in historical Jackson Ward.
Shirley was recently compared to Margaret Thatcher (Britain’s first female Prime Minister) for her demeanor as a lady. She is a trailblazer who has many accomplishments to her credit, yet she is careful not to rest on her laurels and ignore the call to make a difference in the lives of others, even in her seasoned years.
Shirley Hawkins is a native of Richmond, Virginia. She is the proud mother of one daughter, one granddaughter and three great-granddaughters. She is a child of God and a passionate follower of Jesus Christ.
Shirley is a member of Divine World Changers International Ministries under the leadership of Pastor Dr. Derwin Hickman and Co-Pastor Shelly-Franswalla Hickman.
